The Healthcare Reader series was developed to build foundations in theory for interpreters who plan to work in healthcare settings.
Two of four modules have been developed and offered:
- Intro to Interpreting Studies introduces reading scholarly literature on interpreting and applying the readings to practice and ongoing skill development.
- Discourse and the Triadic Encounter focuses on research and theory on medical discourse and interaction in healthcare interpreting.
Each course is six weeks long, and includes access to all required articles.
The Healthcare Reader series is open to both spoken language and sign language interpreters.
